GitHub passkey

The GitHub team supports use of passkeys across its platform. By design, Passkeys are linked to user devices. This enhanced security authentication mechanism provides the following advantages:

• Improves account security
• Increases protection against unauthorized access attempts
• Allows passwordless logins for users. This reduces the multiple password burdern on developers
• Reduces phishing susceptibility

The Uganda National CERT and Coordination Center (CERT.UG/CC) strongly advises developers that use GitHub to enable use of the Passkey feature. The details of this feature can be found here.
